#6 DIY | Spicy Kara Boondi Recipe|Step by Step procedure to prepare at home|

Kara means 'SPICY' in Tamil,  kara boondi is a popular Indian savoury snack which is all over prepared in south India. This snacks is often served with freshly brewed coffee or Tea. 




You would need a ladle to prepare this snacks, so be sure that you have one at home. 



Ingredients required to prepare Kara boondi


  • Besan flour (Kadalai Maavu) : 500gms
  • Rice flour (Arisi Maavu): Small Cup (50 - 100 gms)
  • Ghee: 2 to 3 Tablespoon
  • Milk/Water: As required
  • Salt: As needed (1.5 to 2 Teaspoon)
  • Chilli powder: 1.5 to 2 Tablespoon
  • Curry leaves: 9-10
  • Cashew nuts: 9-10
  • Garlic: 4-5 (Crushed)



Mix the ingredients: rice flour, besan flour, Salt, chilli powder, Ghee.


Add water/milk to the powder, say 2 cups of powder add 1/3 cup of water and start preparing the batter which shouldn't be thick or thin, be careful to add water in smaller quantities to reach the consistency level as shown in the picture,



Now to prepare Kara boondi heat the oil in a pan and pour the batter on the ladle, you can see the batter falling in the pan as tiny droplets, fry it till it turns to be golden brown and keep it aside in a plate. you should also keep in mind that you should fry it crispy. Repeat this process for the rest of the batter,



Heat a pan, add 1 teaspoon of ghee/oil, saute the cashew nuts, garlic (Optional) and curry leaves till you could sense the aromatic smell.

Add this to the prepared kara boondi 



SPICY KARA BOONDI IS READY TO TASTE
